How did Gandhi resist totalitarian states

Mohandas Gandhi   led India's independence movement in the 1930s and 40s by speaking softly without carrying much of a big stick, facing down the British colonialists with stirring speeches and non violent protest. Gandhi fought totalitrain states by using both ethics and intelligence.Gandhi developed satyagraha into a national movement, stressing passive resistance, nonviolent disobedience, boycotts and, on occasion, hunger strikes. He became so well known and respected, that he gained influence with both the general public and the British rulers. For example, in 1939, by a combination of fasting and satyagraha, Gandhi was able to compel several states, that were ruled by princes, to grant democratic reforms. Not only could he unify the many diverse elements of the Indian National Congress, he was able to force political concessions from the British by threatening to fast until death. Gandhi is remembered not only as a political leader, but as a moralist who appealed to the universal conscience of mankind.

Birth of Big Brother

I found this video and audio very relevant to 1984, in the novel the author was showing a country that was being watched by big brother everyday. In today's world we are being watched by the police by camera's in banks, schools, resturants, stores, apartment bulidings and so on. In the book 1984 citizens where being watched by the tele screen, in today's modern day world we are being watched but most citizens dont realize we are being watched.

how police use electronic devices to trak people

Modern day police now use the internet, cellphones, Gps to track people. Every one uses social medai and we post our information on the internet, which at any given time can be used to track individuals by the police. Mordern day police have accounts with social medai, e.g facebook and twitter, if there is a missing person investigation have became very easy to track the missing and the abductor. Most people don't realize that we are being watched all the time hence some people post uncalled for information vai text messege or social medai which in the end the police use this as evidence of a crime. Police actually go on facebook and twitter to look for criminals and a lot of unlawful characters have been traked using these devices. Police can also use the GPS to track your whereabouts.

The four infomus historical totalitarain leaders

The four infomus historical totalitarain leaders

Moummar Gaddafi Of Libya ruled for 42 years

I have considered him for this post because he an example of a dictator who ruled with an iron feast for forty two years. His forty one year leadership prior to the uprising made him the fourth longest serving non royal leader since 1900, as well as the longest serving Arab leader. He killed innocent lives his government conducted executions and mutilations of political opponents in public and he broadcasted recordings of the proceedings on public television. Dissent was illegal under Law seventy five of 1973, which limited freedom of expression, and opposition was met with violence.

Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq

I have considered Mr Hussien in this post because he is a example of an abusive leader who  held on to power since 1979-2003. Saddam was notable for terror against his own people, "murdered as many as a million of his people, many with poison gas. He tortured, maimed and imprisoned countless more. His unprovoked invasion of Iran is estimated to have left another million people dead.

Idi Amin
Amin Idi , was the president of Uganda from 1971 to1979, also known as Idi Amin Dada. His brutality and disregard for the rule of law led to hundreds of thousands of deaths and plunged the country into chaos and poverty. Amin's rule has many lasting negative consequences for the future of Uganda. His abuse has led to low regard for human life and personal security, widespread corruption, and the disruption of economic production and distribution.

Hastings Kamuzu Banda
He was the Prime Minister of Malawi from 1963 to1966 then he became from 1966 to1994. He banned all opposition then declared himself President for life, and he also exiled and killed opposition leaders. He violently crushed any attempted rebellion. All adult citizens were required to be members of the the party. Party cards had to be carried at all times and presented at random police inspections.
